The fundamentals of leather chemistry and engineering have written into books over many decades. However, much of the skills and knowledge has passed through the generations of people working in the industry. Italy based tannery machinery maker, Erretre, has established a “Legacy project” to ensure that this valuable information cannot be lost and the knowledge is protected to be handed on to future generations.
What is seldom written in the leather text books, is the real driving force of the leather industry with all its industry secrets and passion. Erretre has decided to go to the heart of the passion – the people who work in the industry. These special individuals are at the core of the success of the industry. People, and the tools they use are key in making quality leather.
Erretre is searching to find these passionate people; to understand what drives them; seeing the enthusiasm they create; and experiencing first-hand the curiosity, they have, when they work with leather.
By giving a communication platform to people who have done a great deal for our industry, Erretre is going to create a record for future generations and provide current professionals with an insight into new paths to making quality leather a success.
