The developer of the Bluesign Bluefinder is incorporating leather chemistry to provide a ‘robust solution’ for chemical management in the leather and footwear industries.
The expansion is in collaboration with Netherlands headquartered chemical manufacturer Stahl, with whom Bluesign signed a partnership in October 2017. The bluesign system is based on an applied practice called Input Stream Management that helps its partners to properly manage chemicals and to replace hazardous chemicals with safer alternatives.
The system unites players throughout the supply chain to jointly reduce their impact on people and the environment. Partners include globally acting stakeholders in the apparel and footwear market, ranging from chemical suppliers to manufacturers and brands.
Initially aimed at the textile sector, Bluesign technologies was founded in Switzerland in 2000.
