Good export growth for leather and textiles

The export of textiles, apparel and leather in the first two months of 2014 for the North African country of Tunisia were 2.94% more than the corresponding months of last year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In 2013, Tunisian textile, garment and leather sector earned 6.2 billion dinars (US$3.9 billion) in exports, registering an increase of 5.05% over 2012 exports of 5.9 billion dinars (US$3.7 billion). 

On the import front, Tunisian textile, apparel and leather sector showed an increase of 8.7% in imports compared with the same period last year for January and February. Tunisian textile, clothing and leather imports grew 4.68% last year.
