Indian footwear manufacturers hit by higher leather prices

As the number of tanneries operating in Kanpur has more than halved in recent years, the closure of the remaining 296 tanneries ahead of the Kumbh Mehla Hindu pilgrimage coupled with the rupee devaluation mean footwear manufacturers in India have to face rising raw material costs.
