Research reports forced labour risks in global footwear making

A recent international research says that as manufacturers seek to reduce costs to meet consumer demands in ‘hyper-competitive markets’ by shifting production to cheaper labour markets and using temporary and contract labour, this creates a demand for illicit subcontracting and lower-cost sub-suppliers.
