The 43rd edition of Fimec (International Fair of Leather, Chemical Products, Components, Machines and Equipment for Footwear and Tanneries) takes place February 26-28, 2019 at the Fenac pavilions in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The Fimec Forum, one of the highlights of the previous edition, will be renewed for 2019. Devised to offer information and global knowledge for the leather-footwear industry’s advancement, the event is held alongside the FIMEC trade fair and features Brazilian and international speakers renowned for their footwear industry expertise. “The Fimec Forum provides access to, and networking with, relevant stakeholders operating in the international market. Our goal is to make the Forum a place where the industry gets to present ideas and innovations,” said Suane Lemke, Organisation Committee, Fimec. It will be held between 9am-2pm on February 27.
Once again, the fair will host the ‘Concept-Factory’. Under the theme “Information technology at the service of the footwear industry”, it will showcase real-time footwear manufacturing to help visitors understand how the technological processes and products on display at the event can be used. Put together by Fenac, the Brazilian Institute of Technology for Leather, Footwear and Related Goods, and consultants Coelho Assessoria Empresarial, the project will feature approximately 70 companies that supply from raw materials to production management and control systems, machines, and industrial waste disposal services. Also, the Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados) will present its automated logistics system (SOLA) that aims to help businesses to improve productivity, streamline processes to lower costs and secure full traceability by adopting methods that integrate and add efficiency to the links along the chain, from raw material suppliers to retailers.
The ‘Business Rounds’ will also be renewed for 2019; a speed networking-type initiative, where participants, including footwear retailers, have three minutes to present their products and begin negotiations. The previous edition of Fimec hosted 500 exhibitors and visitors from more than 37 countries, according to the organisers.
