The organisers of the upcoming XXXV IULTCS International Congress, taking place June 25-28 in Dresden, Germany, have released a provisional scientific programme.

A total of 40 oral presentations are scheduled during the four-day event, including five keynotes and the Heidemann Lecture to be held by Professor Kheng Lim Goh from the Newcastle Research & Innovation Institute, part of the Newcastle University in Singapore, titled “As tough as leather: Macro to nano scale perspectives of collagen stability”.

The keynotes to be featured are “Capturing and Reporting the Environmental Impact of Leather” by Michael Costello, Stahl Holdings; "Minimising Emissions of Automotive Leather" by Dr Volker Rabe, Lanxess; "Automotive Leathers – Evaluating the Performance Limits (part II)" by Dr Sebastiano De Vecchi, TFL; "Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability" by Alvaro Flores, Brazilian Leather; and "Sulfide Unhairing: rethinking the received wisdom” by Dr William Wise, University of Northampton, Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT).

Furthermore, two engineering sessions paralleled to the scientific programme will be on stage for “rather practical experts”, whereby new technical and engineering solutions will be discussed. Automation and digitation in leather manufacture and processing, as well as new machinery and tools will also be on focus.
