Prada on the hunt to buy a tannery

Following the recent trends of major luxury groups such as LVMH, Hermes, Chanel and Kering (Gucci) it now appears that Italian fashion house, Prada is on the hunt to buy a tannery to secure supply of top quality leather.

According to recent reports in the Italian press, Prada is planning to acquire a high-quality leather manufacturer as part of the company’s strategy of strengthening and integrating its production chain. The strategy was announced during a presentation on April 2 by the Group headed by Patrizio Bertelli.

The possible acquisition was reported by Italian daily Il Sole-24 Ore, which talked about the company’s various plans. It should be noted that Prada did not provide information about when, where or with whom the acquisition could take place.
