Permira Funds, owners of the iconic British footwear brand, are reported to have brought on advisors to help explore the possibility of a sale or IPO of Dr Martens in 2020.

U.S. headquartered private equity firm Carlyle Group is said to be considering making an offer to acquire UK based footwear brand Dr Martens from Permira. The latter bought the business for €380 million in 2013. According to undisclosed sources, no final decisions have been made and Permira is open to other bids. Carlyle portfolio of companies includes footwear brand Golden Goose.
