Zara launches leather bag customisation service

Owned by Spain headquartered Inditex, whose net sales climbed 7.5% to €19.8 billion for the nine months ended October 31, the global apparel retailer has launched Edited X Zara for bags.

After having launched a denim personalisation service earlier this year, Zara is now proposing a similar personalisation option for leather handbags through its e-commerce platform. The soft leather tote bag is available in taupe and black, with a tumbled finish and magnetic clasp closure. On its website, Zara points out to its customers that the products were produced in tanneries that are certified under the Leather Working Group (LWG) protocol, using renewable energy and technologies that reduce water consumption.

Inditex Group’s net sales increased 7.5% in the first nine months of 2019, from February 1 to October 31, to €19.82 billion, underpinned by growth across all brands and regions, according to the Group. Gross profit grew 8%, reflecting a gross margin of 58.2% (+21bp) and net profit increased 12%, year-on-year, to €2.72 billion. Management estimates like-for-like sales growth of 4% - 6% in 2019.
