The January-February 2020 print and digital app edition of International Leather Maker (ILM) sees the introduction of a fresh and more modern design and a number of new editorial features.

An updated, clean layout with enhanced visuals is complemented by new regular features such as Talking Point, gathering opinions and viewpoints from a cross-section of industry players on a specific topic each issue, or News Review, which gives an overview of the news highlights and breaking news stories from the daily updated ILM website.

Moreover, the front cover will now be editorial-led, further enhancing the contemporary look and appeal of the industry’s leading business intelligence title. “This is the first time that ILM has had a makeover since it was launched in 2013. We wanted to bring to our readers a more modern look, with more impactful visuals that is easy to read for people when English may not be their native language. The start of the new decade seemed like the ideal time for a new look with fresh content ideas. While others in the leather trade media are cutting back, we are investing in the future”, explains Martin Ricker, Content Director, ILM.

In an exclusive interview with ILM, Rob Billington, Supply Chain Director at British luxury leather goods brand Mulberry, reveals details of the company’s ambitious sustainability agenda, Mulberry Green, and gives a rare insight into what drives the brand’s philosophy and commitment to leather. The new issue, available now, also features a detailed market report on China’s leather sector and gets behind-the-scenes access at sustainable leather goods brand Leit & Held. Michael Lu, CEO of large Chinese tanner Henan Prosper, also tells ILM about the company’s recent investments and its expansion plans for the future.

This edition also quizzes key industry figures on how they are addressing the skills gap, how to make jobs in the leather sector appealing and the impact digitisation and automation are having on traditional jobs within leather manufacturing. Furthermore, we explore the viability of compostable and biodegradable leather and whether price or sustainability determine consumers’ buying choices.

Other editorial highlights include:

• Market report on China.
• How Van Hoorn tackles traceability in the leather supply chain.
• Health & safety standards in tanneries.
• A look at current traceability gaps.
• A preview of APLF 2020.
• Sicit’s pioneering circular model in Arzignano.
• Considerations around leather thickness.
• The impact of the proposed new European regulations on Cr VI.
• Circular CO2 deliming.

In addition to these premium editorial features, the January-February 2020 edition, which will have extra distribution at the IILF in Chennai, PVL in Paris and Lineapelle/Simac Tanning Tech in Milan, also includes regular items such as the Redwood Column, raw materials prices and trends, industry viewpoints and more.
