The luxury fashion label has announced the closure of all its production sites in France due to the spread of the COVID-19.

“In accordance with government instruction, we have now closed all of our stores in France as well as in certain other European countries and the Americas. In order to protect our employees, we have also decided to close all of our production sites in France until Monday, March 30”, said the company in a statement, adding this decision does not apply to the Hermès Parfums site in Vaudreuil, which will be producing, on a voluntary basis, five tonnes of hand sanitising gel that France urgently requires.

Hermès said the closure will be carried out partially or gradually, depending on the nature of each site’s activity, in full compliance with safety regulations. “Throughout this period and in addition to legal provisions, we will continue to pay the salaries of our employees.”
