Kering closes stores in Europe and North America

The French luxury conglomerate is reported to have closed all its store in the U.S. and Canada due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to fashion industry trade media Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), Kering has closed all of its U.S. and Canada stores until April 1 due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Kering brands, which include Gucci, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, are to continue to operate online. The conglomerate’s distribution centre in New Jersey is to apply “enhanced safety measures,” including “heightened hygiene protocols” and social distancing. The impacted employees are to continue to receive pay. Allegedly, after other countries such as France, Italy and Spain, Kering also plans to close its stores in the UK.
