In 2014, Brazilian leather exports to Vietnam grew by 130% in volume, and 70% in value, in comparison to the same period the year before. Trade in the leather sector is due to grow further say CICB.
From July 13, Brazilian tanners will have the opportunity to have a close look at Vietnam’s market and opportunities for leather produced in Brazil, due to the Business Mission in Vietnam. Promoted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), with support from Brazilian Leather – an initiative of CICB and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) for the promotion of leather exports –, the activity will hold visits to major footwear and accessories industries, as well as the participation of Brazilian companies at the Shoes & Leather Vietnam exhibition, in the city of Ho Chi Minh.
There are six companies confirmed in the Mission: America Leather, Alexander Representações, Coming, Couros Bom Retiro, Curtume A.P. Müller and JBS Couros.
José Fernando Bello, executive president of CICB, and Rogério Cunha, from CICB’s Department of Intelligence, will accompany the tanners during the trade fair and visits, which is also comprised of a reception with representatives from the Brazilian Embassy in Hanoi and an extensive agenda of business meetings and technical incursions in some of the largest leather importers in Vietnam.
According to Cezar Müller, from A. P. Müller, getting to know the Vietnamese market, and establishing business contacts with new clients, is on the agenda during his participation in the Mission. “We want to start the development process within this market, and evaluate the possibilities of selling our product to the leather goods segment”, says Müller.
