Leather and its role in automotive interiors of the future

Published:  04 June, 2020

Three industry-leading experts will provide insights and the latest market intelligence on the automotive leather segment in the latest free-to-attend webinar organised by ILM in association with the global raw materials pricing and trends website theSauerReport and sponsored by Germany headquartered leather chemical specialist Zschimmer & Schwarz. The webinar will be broadcast on June 18, 2020, at 2pm UK time (3pm CET). To attend (subject to approval) please register here.

The presentations will provide overviews and different perspectives on the market, including what impact Covid-19 may have on the automotive leather supply chain in the short and medium terms, key trends in automotive interiors and how leather can meet growing demand for increased performance and material innovation, as well as latest chemical developments in automotive leather applications and sustainability considerations for wet-end products.

Sustainability – Definitions and approaches for wet-end products
Dr Peter Thoma, Development Chemist at Zschimmer & Schwarz, will be among the presenters, covering the topic of sustainability and giving an overview of definitions and aspects of measurability, as well as applicability to wet-end products. Due to their divergent definitions of sustainability and sustainable products, it is not always easy to compare products offered by different chemical suppliers for auto leather uses. However, there are some key aspects that can help assess whether a certain product can be considered to a greater or lesser extent as sustainable, as Thoma will explain.
