Lagos Leather Fair hosts round of industry talks

Held digitally on November 19 – 22, topics discussed during the four-day event ranged from the current and future situation of the leather industry to creativity and intellectual property.

The first day of the Lagos Leather Fair (LLF) started with an inauguration speech and was followed by a roundtable discussion titled; “Straight Talk: Where is the leather industry headed?”, and a presentation on the topic of “The Art of Coloring Leather”. On the second day, a talk was held on “Finding a balance between creativity and sustainability”, and a discussion on “The fundamentals of product design and development” was followed by a masterclass on the “Art of Hand-Stitching to perfection”.

The topics of “Taking your business from local to global” and “Breaking the Made-In-Africa stereotype” were extensively discussed on the third day. Olufunke Jones from Providus Bank also spoke briefly on the topic “Providus Bank and the Creative Industry”. On the fourth and last day a presentation was held on “Creativity and Intellectual Property: The Copycatting syndrome” and was followed by a dynamic discussion on “Lessons from the Pandemic: Creating opportunities in a crisis”, before closing with a mastercalss on “tips and tricks; how to style it”.
