Light-weight product innovation for automotive leather

The latest developments in light-weight product innovation for automotive leather will be the focus of a presentation by Mark Bartle, Senior Leather Specialist Wet End Automotive at chemical supplier Stahl, at the first ILM Digital Automotive Leather Supply Chain Forum. Bartle will introduce Stahlite, an application for light weight automotive leathers, and will explain how it helps to reduce the weight of leather in the vehicle without compromising on quality and how this feeds into measurable benefits in terms of reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, in addition to other relevant technical and environmental benefits.

About the presenter

Mark Bartle is a Senior Leather Specialist Wet End Automotive at Stahl. In his role, he is responsible for all wet-end automotive leather related technical matters, both internally for Stahl as well as customer-facing. Before joining Stahl, he worked in the wet-end automotive leather sector within Clariant’s Leather Services Business Unit. Bartle acquired extensive global experience in all aspects of wet-end related sectors of the leather industry from beamhouse to retanning prior to joining Clariant and Stahl, but in the last 25 years in particular he has specialised in the production of leather for automotive interiors. Born in the United Kingdom, Bartle is a Leather Technologist and was trained at the National Leathersellers’ Centre, University of Northampton.
