Visitor numbers for the Micam and Mipel, footwear and leather goods shows, which were held in Milan, August 31- September 3, have been released and show a decline in the number of attendees.

The two four-day fairs ended the organisers published visitor data showing that 34,176 people attended both fairs at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition grounds. The numbers are down -11.5% compared to the September 2013 and -16.8% compared to the September 2012. However, the number of exhibitors remained virtually unchanged. According to the organisers of the event, the decrease may be due to the need of reducing costs and sending less people from each company.

The number of Italian and Russian visitors registered the highest decrease in visitor numbers. The number of Chinese and Japanese visitors increased.

The organisers also reported a decrease from Mipel (-13%), which underlines the reduction of Russian visitors.
