After consultation with stakeholders with regard to the possibility of changing the dates of the events, Riva del Garda Fierecongressi said they have decided “to wait a little longer before fixing definite dates” as the Italian government has yet to establish the timing for the re-opening of all businesses, and more specifically for collective events. The Italian health authority, along with national and local institutions, are said to be preparing health and behavioural protocols that will enable the organisers to define when and how the exhibitions can take place. “You will appreciate that in such uncertain times, announcements regarding date changes can only be an estimate, and would be premature at the moment because only a reassuring international health framework and the reopening of borders and air travel will make it possible for the international footwear and leather goods community to meet”, said Riva del Garda Fierecongressi in a statement, highlighting that Italy is preparing for phase 2, whereby travel will be enabled again.
