A DoE team, led by its executive magistrate M Selim Reza, conducted the drive at different factories that are producing fodder using poisonous tannery waste in Hazaribagh Beribadh and adjoining areas at about 11:30am. During the drive, it was found that poultry and fish feed was being produced at the factory using tannery waste which is harmful to human health if not processed and cleaned properly. Later, the team destroyed 28 cauldrons/burners and seven feed processing machines, according to a local news agency.

The crack down comes after several reports in the local media about tannery waste from the area being used in illegal or back street animal feed processing. The hidden and unregulated practices have been causing a number of health issues in the area.
