Speaking on the occasion, Firoz told the meeting that the total export of leather and leather products from Pakistan to Turkey in the year 2012-13 was worth US$23 million, which he said was very low considering the total Turkish import of leather and leather products was worth US$684 million in the same year. Muhammad Musaddiq said that the precondition of laboratory tests of Pakistani made leather had been removed, which he welcomed from the Turkish government. He also highlighted some key issues that need to be addressed to achieve the desired objective of enhancing trade between the two countries He invited Turkish exporters to participate in Pakistan’s first mega leather expo, which is expected to be held from March 6-8, 2015 in Lahore.
