About the guest
Ian Banks joined Edify Digital Media, the publisher of International Leather Maker, in January 2019 as Editor of theSauerReport. A former trader of UK and Irish bovine hides for over 20 years, he sold UK full substance wet-blue material from Holmes Halls processors, where he was a Director for more than 15 years.
Alongside his role as trader of raw materials, he was also involved in the procurement and import of finished leather goods from China to the UK. He started out his early career on the hide yard, salting, trimming and selecting hides for Andrews and Co., followed by stints at Barker and Herd (formerly Hillsdown Holdings), learning every aspect of the raw materials trade from the ground up.
