Firstly, the two founders of the not-for-profit, Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF) provide listeners with some background about why they felt the need to establish the foundation and how its aims to highlight best practice across the global leather supply chain in the areas of sustainability, and corporate and social governance. They explain the structure of the organisation and its recently launched Transparency Dashboard.

Deborah Taylor and Karl Flowers also talk about why the SLF is important for any organisation involved in the leather supply chain, whether it be a leather manufacturer or a brand, retailer or OEM and how the SLF fits, and is different, in an already crowded accreditation marketplace.

The recently held ‘virtual’ workshops in Italy and their aims and aspirations for the SLF in the short, medium and long-term are also discussed during the podcast.

Each episode of ILM’s podcast series is designed to appeal to all parts of the leather supply chain, including tanners, traders, suppliers, academia and research organisations, OEMs, brands, and retailers. To download or listen to the free-of-charge podcasts, please click here.
