The claims are filed under the WeBoc and manual systems of those member exporters who have so far provided their details to the Customs Export Collector, Karachi, a statement said.

Zafar said that despite the claims of duty drawback submitted to the office of the Collector of Customs, Karachi and issue of reminders, refund cheques have not been released and members are facing financial problems due to frequent gas and power outages, a deteriorating law and order situation and an increase in petroleum prices.

The committee chairman requested the FBR authorities to probe into the issue and help resolve problems, which were indirectly harming the leather export sector. Further, the Customs officials have also been informed that tanners are in need of sufficient funds to purchase hides and skins in sufficient quantity before Eid-ul-Azha.
