According to the Raw Hide Traders Association (RHTA), around 200 businessmen from Ramnagar, the second largest market for rawhide business, will fail to do business during Eid if tanneries do not pay them last year’s due.

The tannery owners said they had to face a critical situation as their businesses were affected by the political turmoil. However, according to Shariful Islam, Publicity Secretary of RHTA, the tannery owners have been given benefits from the government but still left payments overdue. He also claims the Government should take measures to save the businesses.
