October showed a total export value of US$236.9 million, a higher value than May of this year, which held the previous record of US$229.3 million. Compared with October 2012 it was 28.3%, whose value was US$184.5 million, and an increase of 6.8% compared to September 2013 when US$221.8 million was recorded.

In terms of quantity Brazilian exports in October reached 3.37 million pieces, also a monthly record, with an increase of 31.5% compared with October 2012, whose total was 2.56 million pieces. There was a significant increase in the number of finished leather exported with a record 1.32 million hides.

The main destinations for Brazilian leather between January and September 2013 were: China/Hong Kong with 35.4%, 21.1% to Italy, and the United States with 10.2% (by value).

The main exporting states from Brazil during the same period were São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, with 20.4% and 19.7%, respectively. Followed by Goiás with 12.5%, 11.9% from Paraná, Ceará with 8.0% and Mato Grosso do Sul with 6.2%.
