Warren Weinstein was 72 and had been working in Pakistan for seven years for a Washington consultancy that ran USAID funded and other economic development projects. He had achieved outstanding success in areas such as the dairy and furniture industry and the in 2008 the Pakistan government asked him to produce a strategic plan for the leather industry. His energy, thoroughness, and intelligence greatly impressed the industry.

He was kidnapped from his house in Lahore in August 2011 and apart from two distressing videos he had not been seen since. For those in the industry who knew Warren this is a tragic end and an immense loss of a man who had dedicated his life to doing good.

Warren Weinstein worked with Mike Redwood, ILM blogger and writer, preparing the strategic plan for the leather industry in Pakistan.
