The initiative brings together two leaders in the global leather sector to promote sustainable fashion, nurture emerging talent, as well as highlight leather as a natural, durable and versatile material.

Now entering its fifth edition, RLSD has already introduced thousands of students and fashion enthusiasts worldwide to the relevance of leather and its role in shaping the industry’s future.

The competition invites Brazilian fashion students and young designers to create original pieces in three categories—apparel, footwear, and accessories—using at least 50% bovine leather, with a focus on natural and sustainable materials, as a tool to promote leather as a long-lasting alternative to fast fashion.

Winners of the Brazilian edition will qualify for the international RLSD finals in October 2026, with all travel and accommodation costs covered. In past editions, finalists have enjoyed exclusive opportunities such as study trips to Italy, offering a firsthand look at luxury leather craftsmanship.
