The meeting has been positioned to take place before the Global Fashion Summit: Singapore Edition 2022, which takes place on November 3.

The theme for the SAC Annual Meeting will be “Collective Action on Common Ground”, and the event reportedly aims to establish common ground among different perspectives to promote solutions and drive progress on pressing environmental and social issues.

Speakers announced for the event include Tonje Drevland, Head of Section, the Norwegian Consumer Authority; Edwin Keh, CEO of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA); and Ipek Kurtoglu Firat, Global Product Impact Lead at H&M.

Singapore was chosen as the destination for the event in recognition of the country’s importance in driving and sustaining the apparel and footwear industries, SAC said.

Amina Razvi, CEO of the SAC, said: “This year’s Annual Meeting comes at a pivotal moment for the apparel and footwear industry. The industry is under the spotlight like never before and rightly this brings scrutiny to ensure that sustainability remains at the fore.

“The Annual Meeting will be a critical moment for both SAC members and the wider industry to come together, move away from divisiveness and polarisation, and find areas of common ground where we can drive forward collective action to deliver long-term, sustainable impact.”

The first day of the SAC Annual Meeting will be restricted to SAC members, while the second day will be open to non-members and will focus on plenary sessions, workshops, and dedicated slots for networking opportunities.
