Great Greenland, a tannery specialised in sealskin with trade stations based in Upernavik, Maniitsoq, Tasiilaq and Nuuk to procure hide supply from local hunters, has announced it will enlarge its product offer to include sheepskin and reindeer hides.

After successful trials, the company expects to market sheepskins as from autumn 2016, and reindeer hides towards the end of the year.

The tannery, which is said to have been affected by the EU’s ban on sealskin imports, is also considering to offer hare, rabbit and muskoxen skins.

Ditte Storknæs, Managing Director, Great Greenland, has stated the tannery will only sell hides from animals that have been raised or hunted for food.
