Smit & zoon’s Simplicity program allows tanneries to reduce their impact on the environment and eventually to reduce their costs. Shorter tanning processes and less products used during these processes result in a lower energy and water consumption, and most of all, in a fine and high quality leather.

The company will be highlighting Simplicity at the India International Leather Fair which takes place February 1-3, 2015 in Chennai. Representatives of the company’s wet-end and finishing divisions will be present.

Smit & zoon develops and produces chemicals used in the manufacturing and finishing of leather for well-known brands of shoes, cars, furniture, clothes and bags. Based on fish oil as a shared feedstock source, it also has a significant share in the global trade of vegetable and animal oils, used by its customers to produce top brands in pet foods and human consumption.

Quality, sustainability and continuity are of key importance in this international family business founded in 1821. Headquartered in Weesp (The Netherlands), Smit & zoon also has offices in Amersfoort (The Netherlands), Germany, Italy and China. In total, Smit & zoon has over 190 employees.
