The Creators Union (TCU) seeks to ensure that social media influencers have proper protections in place as the industry matures, including supervising formal contracts between companies and influencers, the use of correct content and the avoidance of discriminatory practices. The TCU has allegedly joined the American Influencer Council (AIC), an invite-only, non-profit trade association launched in June, alongside a founding group of 12 influencers coming together to create “a fairer global industry”.

On its website, the AIC claims it is not only a community, but “also a think-tank of digital entrepreneurs who are fuelling the creative, the storylines and the success behind the multi-billion-dollar influencer marketing industry in America”.
