Lanxess to sell its chrome chemicals business

The German specialty chemicals company is selling its chrome chemicals business to Brother Enterprises, a Chinese leather chemicals producer. An agreement to that effect was signed on August 12, subject to approval by relevant antitrust authorities. Lanxess expects to complete the planned transaction by the end of 2019.

Key court dates have been set in antitrust suits against high-profile U.S. beef packers who are accused to have conspired to depress the price of fed cattle, thereby boosting their profits and margins, while antitrust lawsuits against several large U.S. pork packers were dismissed last week. 


Record net revenue for Marfrig in Q3

The Brazilian meatpacker, which acquired a controlling interest of U.S. based National Beef in June 2018, has posted record net revenue of R$11 billion (US$2.94 billion) in the third quarter of 2018, up +21% year-on-year.
