Industry veterans talk about the former Semaine du Cuir fair in Paris with such affection that those of us that never attended often wonder what it was really like. Was it a true leather fair where traders, tanners, chemical and machinery suppliers from around the world were all under one roof for the leather industry’s big annual showpiece? Where the champagne flowed, and everyone made a good living.

Brazilian leather and Cuir A Paris

At the most recent edition of Cuir A Paris, September 16-18, a group of ten Brazilian exhibitors participated with the support from the Brazilian Leather project, an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) for the promotion of leather exports.

Visitor numbers down at Cuir A Paris

An Air france pilot strike and changes in the schedules of other trade shows (Lineapelle) have been blamed for the 4.5% fall in visitor numbers attending the Cuir A Paris show last week compared with September 2013. The 27th edition of the fair took place September 16-18 at the same time as 60% of Air France flights were cancelled due to the strike.

Cuir A Paris to be renamed

Premiere Vision the new owners of Cuir A Paris announced that they would be changing the name of the show in 2015. They will also rename all its other six shows under the Premiere Vision Paris brand.

More visitors in Paris despite air strike

There were many more visitors attending day two of Cuir A Paris on September 17. At a show press conference, Marc Brunel, Show Manager, Cuir A Paris formally announced the name change of the show and outlined some features at the show this year.
