Titanium dioxide update

By means of an update to the ILM news released on June 13, 2017 concerning titanium dioxide, TiO2 (CAS RN 13463-67-7) is to be Chemical, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) reclassified as a Category 2 carcinogen, by inhalation. The focus is on “sharp edges” of finely ground powders. Liquid aerosols don’t seem to be of interest to the toxicologists who are focussing on nanoparticles and powders.


ECHA reclassifies titanium dioxide as carcinogen

European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has announced that titanium dioxide (CAS RN 13463-67-7) is to be reclassified as a Category 2 carcinogen. This can be a cause of concern for the tanning industry when presented in the form of aerosols.
