Non-leather making challenges for tanners in 2015
Article first published in ILM January-February 2015 edition. As 2015 dawns I wonder what the new year will bring. Potentially a large effort from tanners to continue their fight for business but not based on hide supply, hide prices or even market share – but stupid requests from the “Brand ether!”. There are now so many non leather-making issues to address eg. Leather Working Group requirements, ZDHC requirements, REACH, as well as the ever more restrictive individual Brand requirements.
