New EU project seeks to add jobs in leather and footwear sectors

Partners from nine EU countries participated in the kick-off meeting of “Skills4Smart TCLF 2030”, an ambitious project co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme to attract, upskill and develop innovative learning methods for workers in the textile, clothing, leather, and footwear (TCLF) companies in Europe.

Students learn high-end footwear manufacture 

A group of 14 designers and footwear technicians from five European countries in early July participated in a two-week training course in luxury footwear-making techniques at the Politecnico Calzaturiero in Padua. The course was part of the European Erasmus+ funded project High End Shoe (HES), which aims to develop a new training qualification and occupational profile in luxury footwear manufacturing.
