New research on behaviour of Covid-19 on leather footwear

Researchers have endeavoured to understand how the coronavirus behaves on leather to help the footwear industry recover from the effects of Covid-19. The team at De Montfort University in Leicester (DMU) worked with the British Footwear Association (BFA), which represents the smallest artisan shoemakers to the largest and best-known brands in the world, to test samples of the most popular leathers used for shoes.

Vans commits to 100% responsible leather by 2030

The U.S. footwear and apparel brand, owned by VF Corporation, has committed to reducing its environmental footprint which includes ensuring that 100% of its top materials, including rubber, cotton, leather and polyester, come from regenerative, responsibly sourced renewable or recycled sources across 85% of its materials. The move follows in the footsteps of sister brand Timberland’s pledge to be net positive by 2030.
