Global climate change has come more and more into focus during the last few years. A major source contributing to global climate change is the emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere. As a consequence, more attention is now given to Environmental Footprints, such as Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), which has been an important factor in assessing the environmental sustainability of products. A PCF describes the sum of greenhouse gas emissions accumulated during the full life cycle of a product and is therefore a measure of the absolute climate impact of a product and its use.

Read More...A lot is made of the fact that most hides and skins are a by-product of the meat and dairy industry. As a consequence we are intricately involved in the livestock business. I have never bought the argument that tanners are some sort of waste disposal businesses cleaning up unwanted waste from the meat industry. We need hides and skins to be top quality and we fight for the best ones. That is why hides today are at record prices yet offer ridiculously small margins to tanners.
