ICT publish databases on leather labelling and Leathermark registration

During discussion between ICT, ICHSLTA and IULTCS under the auspices of the Global Leather Co-ordinating Committee (GLCC) two areas identified as priorities for collective industry action were to promote in all countries the correct labelling and description of leather and its use in products, and the control and appropriate use of the well recognised leathermark or hide design.


Successful end to 10th AICLST conference in Okayama

The 10th Asian International Conference for Leather Science and Technology (AICLST) closed on November 26 after three days of presentations, posters and discussions among the 180 delegates attending from more than 20 countries. The conference was extremely well organised and the host organisers gave the delegates a first-class event.


Leather technologists and chemists gather in Okayama

The 10th Asia International Conference on Leather Science and Technology (AICLST) opened today in the Japanese city of Okayama. Around 190 delegates are attending the three-day event which has a special focus on the environment and sustainability in the tanning industry.


GLCC focus on leather’s image and identity

Activities of the GLCC are focused on improved identity of leather and image of the industry as well as further sustainable development of the industry.

Led by the Presidents of ICT, ICHSLTA, and IULTCS respectively, the Global Leather Co-ordinating Committee (GLCC) met in Italy on September 9, immediately prior to this year’s Milan edition of the Lineapelle trade fair.


IULTCS on Facebook

Online social media facilitates global discussions. These forums allow rapid sharing of information – especially on mobile platforms – and are increasingly where today’s opinions on key topics are formed. Therefore, the IULTCS (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies) has decided to open a Facebook page.


IULTCS grant for Young Leather Scientists

In keeping with its founding purpose – to encourage technology, chemistry, and science of leather - the Executive Committee of the IULTCS has announced the funding of a leather research grant. The grant will be awarded to a suitable candidate under the age of 30, and for a leather research project to be conducted at a recognised institution in 2015.
