U.S. red meat production slowing

The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Agricultural Statistics Board, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), has reported commercial red meat production fell by 7% in December compared with the same period in 2021.


Lower U.S. cattle on feed inventory

U.S. cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totalled 11.3 million head on April 1, down 5% year-on-year.


Record U.S. beef production in September

With one extra weekday and one less Saturday compared with September 2018, commercial red meat production for the U.S. totalled 4.44 billion pounds in September (+6%), with cattle slaughter up 2% year-on-year.
