Tamil Nadu officials halt production at leather complex

Piles of semi-processed leather are reported to be remain dormant since the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) ordered tannery operations to halt ten days ago, claiming the complex’s Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) was being expanded by the tanners without its consent.

ICT releases guidelines on the purchase of raw materials

Russian ban on semi-processed leather extended

The ban on the export of tanned and semi-finished leather from Russia will be extended from April 1 to November 25, 2015. With political tensions between the EU and Russia over the crisis in Ukraine, leather was included in sanctions imposed by the Russian government last year.
