JLR to close plant for two-weeks

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is planning a two-week shutdown of its Solihull, UK, plant at the end of October. Britain's biggest carmaker blamed weakening global demand, especially in China, and has faced falling diesel sales in recent months.

USHSLA says hide exports should not be affected by shutdown

In a note released on January 19, the U.S. Hide, Skin and Leather Association (USHSLA) said it the U.S. government shutdown should not impact the inspection and certification services related to exports of hides and skins exports.

Tanners are implementing their shutdown procedures and the way the holidays have fallen this year it was difficult to arrange transport to move stock.
