Digital platforms set to aid recovery of Indian leather sector

The India Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is organising virtual leather fairs, exhibitions and b2b-meetings in various countries with support of Indian Embassies in a bid to aid and facilitate the recovery of India’s leather sector, which has been badly affected by the Coronavirus crisis but is said to be showing good signs of revival.


Changing supply chains in the leather industry

China has just instructed all its government organisations not only to buy Chinese software and computers, but to remove foreign ones. It is one of the clearest signs yet that the tariff battles initiated by the U.S. are set to leave a legacy long after any change in administrations in both or either countries. 


EU signs trade deal with Vietnam

Signed in Hanoi on June 30, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will reduce tariffs on 99% of goods over a period of ten years, and is expected to improve the competitiveness of Vietnam’s leather sector, among others.
