EU social partners set out future strategy demands

The European social partners representing the textile, clothing, leather, and footwear (TCLF) industries met on July 4 with EU representatives and have agreed joint demands to ensure that the textiles ecosystem can become more resilient, sustainable, and digital as set out in the EU textiles strategy.

Demands for EU action issued by social partners

On May 25, representatives of employers and workers in the European TCLF sectors met with the European Commission to discuss the current challenges facing the TCLF industries and potential EU action to help support the sectors and their workers. Following discussions on the impact of Covid-19 on the sectors and the need for a strong EU action, a joint statement was issued.
