Response to The Toggler article on chromium

I read your Toggler article in ILM May/June 2014, page 46, “Goodbye to chromium and all that”, with great interest and would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond. The article correctly defends chrome as a tanning material, which is excellent. Regarding comments on former “wet (white) something” with recent “next generation” wet-white technology developments, some of the mentioned arguments are no longer valid.

Goodbye to chromium and all that!

It is time to do it – let’s ban the chromium tannage from our tanneries! Let’s all sign up to a global “Ban Chromium Now” protocol and do away with this evil tanning material.
