Ranipet tannery worker deaths compensation

The Ranipet Sidco Finished Leather Effluent Treatment Company has complied with an order from the Southern bench of National Green tribunal, and has deposited the compensation of 75 lakh (US$120,265) with the state government for the accident that killed ten tannery workers on January 31.

Green Tribunal team visits Kanpur tanning zone

Tanners electricity supply cut after Ranipet sludge disaster

Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on February 5 told the South Bench of National Green Tribunal (NGT) that three senior officials had been suspened, even as State government transferred the investigation into the Ranipet tannery accident to the local police investigators.
