The storm caused flooding and damage in towns across the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, including Lindolfo Collor, where Minuano is based. At least 13 people in the country have been killed.

Posting on social media, Grupo Minuano said: “Our city, Lindolfo Collor, has been hit by the force of water in recent days. We, from Grupo Minuano, with a lot of strength and dedication, are already stabilising ourselves almost immediately.

“We thank all employees, suppliers and partners who are supporting us. We have a strong and prepared team. We continue to grow stronger, united, with a lot of dedication and confidence that everything will be fine as soon as possible.”

The tannery was forced to suspend activity on June 16 before employees cleaned the area on June 19 and were able to reopen on June 20.
