The roof of Aziz Tannery, which is still under construction in Savar, collapsed during the afternoon of January 18. A group of construction workers were reported to have been trapped as the 20ft high roof collapsed. At least five people were taken to hospital and, as the rubble was still being cleared yesterday, it is not known if there are any other victims.
According to officials from the Savar Fire Service Senior Station, the roof may have collapsed due to structural weaknesses.
