Speaking during a seminar held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on May 25 to promote trade with he Middle East and Africa, Ngo Khai Hoan, Deputy Head of Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) Department of Africa, West Asia and South Asia Markets, outlined the vast area these regions represent with an important population and high demands for imports of apparel, leather, footwear, and farm produce; sectors in which Vietnam has a strength.

The country’s exports to these regions are reported to be growing, including leather and footwear, electronic accessories, machinery and equipment, tools and spare parts, rice, coffee, and pepper.

However, given the level of security instability, racial and religious conflicts, and cultural differences, the MoIT has advised the Vietnamese companies to thoroughly study markets and stay cautious of attractive deals and online partners. It also told the companies to closely follow political news when participating at international exhibitions and business forums in the search of potential buyers.
